Prosthetic Dentistry: What are my options for replacing teeth?

Modern dentistry has evolved and now offers lifelike replacement teeth that look and feel like nature's original work. Dr. Harvey, always on top of the latest dental advances, offers cosmetic dentures, partials, crown and bridgework, and dental implants.

Dentures
As a replacement for all teeth on the top or bottom arch, modern dentures are comfortable and attractive. Dr. Harvey works with respected dental labs that provide precision prosthetics for optimal fit. Depending upon your unique situation, Dr. Harvey will recommend a denture that will suit your needs. He'll work with you to line or reline the denture, so you can enjoy all the benefits of a dependable and natural looking smile. Dentures can be anchored by suction, adhesive, dental implants, or mini dental implants.

Partials
Partials replace multiple teeth, not necessarily adjacent to one another, on a top or bottom arch. In some cases, flexible dentures provide the most comfortable option. To hold a partial in place, hidden clasps are the standard. However, Dr. Harvey can secure your partial to dental implants if you prefer.

Crown and Bridgework
Bridges, or crown and bridgework, replace one tooth or a few teeth in a row. In most situations, the bridge is attached to teeth on either side of the space where teeth are missing. Dr. Harvey may suggest an implant-retained bridge if he believes it would be the best option. Bridges are fixed appliances, which means they are not removable. If you've heard someone mention a "removable bridge," most likely the appliance is a partial.

Dental Implants
With the structure of a natural tooth – root and crown – a dental implant provides a prosthetic that offers the most solid and lasting solution for tooth replacement. Implants can also anchor a bridge, partial, or denture. Dr. Harvey works with an oral surgeon for implant post placement, then restores the crown portion of the tooth in our Waupaca dental office. He also places mini dental implants...

Mini Dental Implants
As an alternative to natural suction or denture adhesive, mini dental implants can be placed by Dr. Harvey in our Waupaca dental office. Mini implants are small implant posts that do not require traditional oral surgery for placement. If your jawbone density is sufficient, and you have good oral health, Dr. Harvey may recommend mini implants for denture stabilization. Learn more about Imtec's Mini Dental Implants here.
